rave reviews
From our favorite customers!
Il Mio in Clarendon Hills is a gem worth visiting. I had the spaghetti with garlic and pepper, and it was really well done—simple, flavorful, and satisfying. The atmosphere inside is warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed dinner out. Our server was excellent—attentive, friendly, and kept things running smoothly without being overbearing. All in all, a great spot with solid food and even better vibes. Looking forward to coming back and trying more off the menu.

A 5 star experience for the western suburbs casual Italian dining scene. Menu has great variety without being overwhelming. Dishes are post-inflation comparable with sharables trending to the high side, but ... the food quality is awesome. Drink prices (esp. wine) are higher than I like to see but...many of the cocktails are unique for the area Early reservation (5pm) was no problem to book (morning of) on a beautiful summer evening. The building faces east so the sun was no bother for al fresco dining. We had Mixed Grill [seafood](very good. Char flavor was a bit too prominent and could be offset with a little bolder flavor in the vinaigrette), Pappardelle w/ Short Rib Ragu & Cacio e Pepe (added grilled chicken) were both very good. Portions were adequately filling. Ended by splitting a Lava Flourless Chocolate Cake that comes with Vanilla ice cream/ whipped cream/ strawberries/ blueberries on side (delicious). [Note: if you are a bread & olive oil lover, this restaurant does not serve it. Not a drawback as it leaves room for a good desert. 😁]

Incredible service and awesome food make Il Mio a wonderful restaurant choice. Here's what we chose: - Pesto Burrata Flatbread ($20) Really delicious. The burrata had a great texture and the pesto popped. You'll get 8 slices. - Pappardelle with Short Rib Ragu ($22) The star of the meal. The short ribs had a perfectly delicious sauce. I nearly licked the plate clean. - Skirt Steak Vesuvio ($35) The potatoes included in this dish are remarkable - crispy on the outside but melt-in-your-mouth within. The asparagus was nice and smoky. Unfortunately, the skirt steak is quite thin, so there's no way for them to cook it properly medium rare. I might skip this if I came back. Our server Eileen was really awesome - some of the best service I've received. Be aware that the place can get really loud, so it's not particularly intimate. Probably better for a gathering of friends than a romantic date. I'd happily go back to Il Mio. read moreread less
I had their baked class and salmon entrée.The baked clams were just ok. I was a little disappointed because I selected this restaurant because they had baked clams on their menu. The Scottish salmon with the asparagus/rice was good. I just wish their was more asparagus. The coffee was excellent.I would go back if I am in the area

For good reason, our go to Italian restaurant for a nice date. It definitely is not an every week thing if you’re on the budget, but everything is great otherwise. Here’s a list/personal ranking of the dishes we’ve tried. Wish I took pictures in all the past visits. Will update in the future.Appetizers:1. Fried calamari, Grilled octopusBoth cooked well. We get either of these most of the time.Main Dishes:1. Linguini White ClamMy girlfriend gets this EVERY TIME we go. Enough said2. Chicken VesuvioThis was a special today but I think it’s a new favorite for me. The portion is great. The juicy chicken and potatoes are perfectly seasoned. I hope it gets added to the main menu!3. Veal MarsalaPretty unique dish that I enjoyed. Veal was cooked nicely and the red wine based mushroom sauce had great flavor.4. Pappardelle with Short Rib RaguSolid dish. Exactly what you expect and will satisfy your ragu cravings.5. Gnocchi alla Vodka, Rigatoni BoscaiolaNo highlights but no criticisms either. Can’t go wrong with these if you crave them.6. Veal LimoneCooked nicely, but a little too lemony for me personally.7 Skirt steak vesuvioSimilar to chicken vesuvio but portion was a little small for me personally. (Difference between 8 oz skirt steak vs a half chicken)Drinks:1. 30 SpritzA fruity aperol spritz. Good.2. FroséNot sure if this is the right name that this was a seasonal rosé based slushie during the summer. It was really good and we hope they bring it back!3. PeroniItalian beer on tap. Solid.

I love this place so much! The food is beyond outstanding, the servers are so accommodating, and the ambiance hip yet welcoming. The owner must never sleep as he’s always there and taking care of his customers as well as staff. It’s a very delicious and well-oiled machine. Bravo!

Over and over again, we love this restaurant! Typically, we always go to Luca and Oakbrook and when you get the bill, it is typically over $200 for a family of four (and that's with 2 of them being kids). This has the same great atmosphere, comparable quality of food and is actually reasonable. Tonight Eileen was our server, she was so sweet. We ordered up - 3 kids meals, appetizer and entree and of course wine. Total was under $100. If you are looking for a great restaurant in the burbs that has a great atmosphere and isn't going to be outrageous, this is your place! read moreread less
I chose to try this place after seeing the good reviews for it. The ambiance is lively and bright. I like how the menu isn't massive. We had the grilled octopus and whipped ricotta as appetizers. The octopus portion was surprisingly generous, but I thought the presentation was sloppy and the components were too wet. The whipped ricotta portion was large, but I didn't love the lemon citrus addition to it. My daughter really liked her kids portion of spaghetti and the meatball that came with it was massive. I was very impressed by the garganelli pesto burrata dish. The pasta was light and perfectly al dente, the burrata was creamy and the flavors were great. I would come back just for that. My husband got the shrimp pasta that was a special for that day and I thought it was okay. I'd like to try some more of their pasta dishes, but I highly recommend the garganelli! One negative note that bothered me is that they had a lot of flies that were annoying us to the point that we had to keep swatting them away from our food. I'm hoping that's not an ongoing problem. read moreread less
Il Mio was recommended to me to try their business while I was completing a 10 mile endurance event. I visited the business with a coworker and sat on the Patio. The decor and look of Il Mio is relaxing yet modern.I ordered the short rib parmigiana. The meal was flavored well and very satisfying. I travel to this area for business occasionally. My experience was good and I will be returning to try other items on future business trips.

My family is beyond grateful to Rich Ciota and his incredible team for ensuring that our daughter's bridal shower was pure perfection! Our friends and family could not stop gushing about the fabulous food, gorgeous venue, ambience and customer service. The waitstaff and bartenders could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Thank you, Rich, for your excellent communication, guidance in planning, attention to detail and kindness throughout. We always felt like we were in great hands!! I highly recommend Il Mio for showers, rehearsal dinners, brunches, or any special event!!

What an amazing spot! The food was immaculate, there wasn’t a single bite of food left on any plate. The staff was great and super kind! We did come at peak dinner time and our food came out hot and fresh with no crazy wait. It was packed (probably because it’s so delicious) and the floor is a little tight between tables. Great spot for dinner with family or friends.

Delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu. I was surprised to see all the fish options as well. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from- it was so hard to decide what I wanted because everything being served to surrounding tables looked so delicious! Definitely would return again!

Love IL Mio!!! We drive almost an hour just to get there and it’s worth the trip! The restaurant itself is cozy, modern, and clean. The service is some of the best we’ve ever experienced. Everyone is so friendly and responsive to any requests we have. The main star is the food! It’s amazing! Very fresh, full of flavor, and truly tastes like it came right out of my own Nonni’s kitchen. The perfect variety of appetizer and meal options to choose from, even for our gluten-free friends. A MUST STOP! 🇮🇹

An excellent restaurant for comfy Italian food (with some neighborhood fares, such as burgers and sliders). Menu is stacked mostly with approachable and familiar items, and service is friendly and attentive. It is not cheap, but appropriate for the quality of food and service.

Delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by the variety on the menu. I was surprised to see all the fish options as well. We had grilled octopus, diablo flatbread, eggplant parmigiana, spaghetti and meatball and short ribs. Everything came out quickly and was piping hot despite the restaurant being full to capacity. Service was amazing.

That is one of the best places that I’ve ever been in Chicago. First the atmosphere is amazing. And now let’s talk about the food… Everything was super fresh and tasty. I would recommend every single thing on the menu. Ayline was always on time when we need something, very helpful and polite. The place was full but it took them 5 minutes to bring all the appetizers and it was the same with the main dishes . Definitely coming back for more delicious food and good time.

Had dinner with my family here. The Negroni's I had hit the spot! We started with the Il Mio Salad and Diavolo flatbread . Both were excellent. Had the Penne Boscaiola for dinner with a side of meatballs. Portions were very generous. I'll be coming back with friends here soon!

I recently dined at Il Mio in Clarendon Hills, and I must say that my experience was less than satisfactory. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance and the staff was friendly, the food quality was not up to par. I found the dishes to be lacking in flavor, and the service was slower than expected. I believe that with some improvements in their seasoning and efficiency, IL Mio could enhance the dining experience for their customers. It's worth noting that my experience may differ from others, so I encourage you to form your own opinion.

This was a very nice little Italian restaurant down in the little center city of Clarendon Hills, just a block or two off the railroad leading to downtown Chicago (so it's a nice stop on the way home). This place was lively, loud, accepting of kids and strollers, and a trendy place. Nice assortment on the menu, and a full-service bar. They had a small but nicely curated wine selection and some interesting cocktails ... one in our party had the Italian Old Fashioned where they substitute Amaro for the simple syrup. All-in-all the drinks had very fair liquor prices, you won't have to leave your first-born son on ordering. For appetizers our table of three shared the Bruschetta (4 star very nice with the usual served on nice toast points) and the Garlic Rolls (5 star stuff if you are in for a garlic rush and warm bread like we were). The appetizers were a delightful respite while we savored a few drinks. For mains we had the Rigatoni Primavera (a 4 star plate of nice al dente rigatoni in a nice white wine sauce), the Gnocchi Vodka (5 star stuff, perfectly executed with a savory red sauce), and the Tenderloin Medallions (another 4 star offering, nice serving size of three tender beef medallions). The overall ambiance was nice, with the large dining space open and airy with high ceilings. The two, wide front windows open so ... when the weather co-operates ... they are open to allow the fresh air to flow through; the only downside is you get an occasional fly flowing through with it. They also have a nice-sized patio out front for al fresco dining, and it's positioned so the sun is away from you for dinner. Good place, give it a try ... but you should make a reservation to insure a table. read moreread less
We had a reservation for 13 people, from toddlers to grandparents. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, and they did a wonderful job bringing kids' meals with adult appetizers and drinks. Not easy, but they made it appear so. The food was excellent. Everything was as ordered and delicious. I especially liked the orecchiette dish, but everyone liked what they ordered. If you can't find something you like on this menu, it's on you, not them. read moreread less
Thank you Jose for the best service ever! At the end of the night he even came outside as I forgot my sunglasses ! Who does that these days ! But beyond Jose ! I've been from Michelin star restaurants to hot dog shacks and all over Italy .. so I know good food and can taste quality .. .. this place has a clean crisp vibe .. but .. also an authentic Italian comfort and care factor. Anyone who can do grilled octopus better than a Greek restaurant certainly has my attention. .. The mushroom and onions were stellar and the sausage was heavenly .. Molto grazie ! read moreread less
Very lively place in Clarendon Hills. The décor is trendy, and it's busy. You need a reservation and make sure you get it as soon as you can. It's very summery inside, plenty of spots, but busy! Our server was great, he was ready to take our order, prompt, help recommend ideas to us when we needed it. He was also very personable. We ordered a few things and highly enjoyed it. Arancini - shareable, full of flavor, a lot bigger than expected, delicious sauce and delicious flavor Cacio e Pepe - full of delicious butter, enough pepper to not light your butt on fire, but to sting the tongue for 10 seconds, enough to share as a side Chicken Parmigiana - The chicken breast was beautiful with the pasta. The pasta marinara sauce isn't too acidic but has the tang Tiramisu - if an Italian restaurant can't get it together here, then don't eat it. Il Mio has it and I didn't share it. It was delicious. They also serve mocktails and cocktails, giving an option for everyone. I really enjoyed this restaurant, the atmosphere, the liveliness, all of it. read moreread less
The chicken pepperoncini is delicious but since it takes a bit of time to prepare I think the chef is shortcutting the cooking of the chicken. The last two times we ordered it the potatoes and peppers have a dark carmelized look and taste, however the chicken did not, and almost seemed steamed! read moreread less
This restaurant has it all. Fun ambiance on a summer evening with a combination of inside and outside seating. Great service. Our waitress, Danielle, was personable, educated about the menu and the drinks, prompt, and simply a fun person. The drinks were outstanding - very well balanced Old Fashioned (healthy pour) and a chocolate martini for dessert that was incredible. And definitely not least.... The food! Starters: sausage! As someone who makes sausage from a generations old Sicilian recipe this sausage is the bomb. Nice fennel with a bit of heat to finish. Cooked in a light red sauce with onions and peppers. Burrata and pesto flatbread. Gluten free cauliflower crust makes you forget flour exists. The pesto is not overwhelming and perfectly balances the burrata. My entree was was the Lamb chops. 6 nice lollipop (three sets of two to keep the meat tender and juicy) with lemon and oregano. The oregano is a nice touch as i typically cook then with rosemary. Perfectly cooked to medium rare. On a bed of O'Brien potatoes which were mouth watering .. small crunch but still tender. Final touch several grilled asparagus stalks which were neither over or under cooked. All in all I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and we will be bringing friends there in the future read moreread less
Pasta. Wine. A family-friendly atmosphere with a Vespa hanging from the ceiling. The meals are always delicious, but the welcome you receive walking in the door from every member of staff is what truly makes this spot a gem. If you're in the southwest suburbs, make a stop in! If you're not, book some reservations and make the trip out!

I went to Il Mio on Friday and the service was amazing. Our family didn't even have a reservation and we got a table right away which was excellent. I ordered pasta with vodka sauce and it came out to our table within five minutes. The pasta was cooked perfectly (al dente) and the spices in the sauce were very flavorful. After the entrees we ordered dessert and we got Italian S'mores which is now my favorite dessert. Friday nights are packed with customers enjoying themselves and the lively atmosphere makes it a lot of fun. We had excellent effort from our server. Overall a very enjoyable experience and I would definitely go there again! read moreread less

Stopped in for wine and apps last night. Catching up with an old friend. Shareables were amazing. We had the grilled calamari, the arancini and the mussels. All three were delicious and it is hard to pick a favorite. The grilled calamari was perfectly grilled and tender. The mussels were huge and the arrabbiata sauce had the perfect amount of kick. The arancini were cheesy bites of heaven. Our server, Jeffery, was great. Gave good recommendations and did not rush us. Can't wait to go back. read moreread less

My first time at Il Mio and it was a wonderful dining experience..Starting with being greeted by the manager with a big smile andthen directed to our booth of great comfort. We were given plentyof time to review the menu and she was diligent in presenting outdrinks, the best and biggest Vodka and Tonic I ever had, it was great. The appetizers were tender and tasty. Then came the food it wasperfect I asked for no salt and tender broccolini and it was deliveredto our table just perfectly, no salt!!! My dinner guests we equally asimpressed and totally satisfied. All I can say is don't miss dinner atIl Mio's it's worth the drive, I came from Glenview to try this restaurant, worth the wait and prices were great too. Great neighborhood restaurant, family friendly and a place to be seen. Something for everyone, appetizers, flatbreads, salads , pasta and fish. Italian restaurant should serve bread but sadly not here. Nice wine selection and cocktails served. They should consider serving real cranberry juice and not the sickly sweet stuff out of the gun. read moreread less
This was highly recommended by the locals. This was our first time here. We arrived for our 5:30pm Tuesday dinner reservation with my family of eight including three young children. We were seated at a nice table in the far right rear of the restaurant near the kitchen entrance. They arranged two high chairs.I started with the 30 Spritz with Ketel One Peach and Orange Blossom vodka, peach, aperol, fresh lemon and prosecco for $13. We shared and enjoyed the fried calamari with marinara sauce and lemon aioli for $15 and the meatball polenta with housemade meatballs, parmigiano polenta, and marinara for $14. I also enjoyed my 8 ounce medium rare skirt steak Vesuvio with oregano roasted potatoes, evoo, garlic, white wine and vegetables for $30. Everyone was satisfied with their dinners.Dani, our experienced server, was great considering we had three young children, who were a bit noisy towards the end of our dinner. My total bill was $299 less gratuities. We agreed we will return here again for family dinner. read moreread less
